Hello friends,

Alternative Energy Forum Panel Discussion on Wind Power - Saturday Sept 6th, 10AM-12PM at the Midwest City Library Forum Room!!

    I wanted to send out a reminder that Sustainable East Oklahoma County (SEOC) has organized a panel discussion on Alternative Energy, focussed this time on wind solutions. We have scheduled representatives from Bergey, OGE, SOKC, the Homestead School, and City of Choctaw to answer your questions and discuss the impact and possibilities of utilizing wind power in the community. Please join us for what we hope to be the first of several lively discussions on the implementation of alternative energy solutions into society.

A Windy
Alternative
A panel
discussion on alternative energy
September 06, Midwest City
Oklahoma is home to one of the largest supplies of clean, renewable, alternative fuel –
wind. This incredible source of energy can be harnessed to power homes,
businesses and industry as well as promote the sustainability of Oklahoma’s rural
communities through royalty payments to landowners who host wind farms and
provides tax revenue to communities near wind farms.

Options are already available for many who are interested in
utilizing wind power, and there is much activity in the state to widen
accessibility of this alternative energy. A Windy Alternative panel discussion
facilitated by Sustainable East Oklahoma County will include experts from
various sectors of the alternative energy discussion to share information about
current legislation, producing, consuming and buying into alternative energy in Oklahoma.
Guest speakers will include OG&E strategic planner, Mike
Sheriff and senior special project engineer, Jim Spangle; Mike Bergey of Bergey
Windpower who is one of the world’s leading supplier of small wind turbines;
lobbyist Shawn Garza, Bruce Johnson who has been powering his home off the grid
utilizing the wind and sun since the ‘70s; Choctaw city planner Mark Siebold;
and president of Sustainable Oklahoma City, Shauna Struby .
 A
Windy Alternative Panel Discussion is presented by Sustainable East Oklahoma
County (SEOC), a chapter of the Oklahoma Sustainable Network. SEOC serves to
promote community sustainability, connect those working toward sustainability
and as a resource for sustainability information. OSN is a catalyst and
resource for stimulating Oklahoma’s
economy, ecology and equity.

 A Windy Alternative will take place from 10 a.m.
to noon on Saturday, Sept. 06 in the Forum Room at the Midwest City Library, 8143 E Reno,
732-4828. For more information about the seminar contact Isaac Rutel at i_rutel at yahoo.com.
