There is no easy cheap way to make panels that will last. You can buy
individual solar cells for a couple of bucks each, then solder them
together, put them under glass and make frame and I have seen some home
made panels. Figuring in material only you might save some money. This
might be ok for small rv or boat but to put on your house and do any
significant amount of power you will need lots of them and lots more
than $200. save your money and take the tried and true path to energy
savings of conservation, smart products such as CFL bulbs and the like
and commercially made solar panels.
They won't void your homeowners warranty either, to be installed on a
house solar panels must have UL label.
Prices are down, it is a good time to invest in solar energy.
Shine on!

These folks are selling info on DIY solar.
http://www.greendiyenergy.com/
I've tried looking for reviews online - but everything I've found sounds
a bit "slick" to be a review from a real person. I'm probably just
cynical, but it looked to me like they've sprinkled the internet with
their own reviews on their own product.
Does anyone have any REAL knowledge about their info and whether it's
worth their $47 pricetag?
